Prothonotary's report

A total of 702 cases were started in November in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder.A breakdown of cases is as follows:Assessment appeals, 5; civil actions, 22; custody complaints, 15; complaints to modify custody, 9; district justice appeals, 4; divorce complaints, 14; complaints in ejectment, 3; eminent domain/declaration of taking, 1; license appeal, 1; mandamus action, 1; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 26; name change petition, 1; protection from abuse petitions, 21; quiet title action, 1; judgments, 545; miscellaneous case, 1; paternity suit, 1; stipulations/waivers of liens, 4; and writs of executions, 27. The office also processed 46 passport applications and assisted the public in the processing of 29 passport renewal applications.Behrens' financial report for November shows $46,980.71 was generated as follows: prothonotary's fees, $35,405.91; interest income, $6; custody/divorce fees, $2,025; data processing fees, $9,543.80; and remote access fees, $5,900.The prothonotary also remitted $3,915.25 the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally, and $64 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996.
