Schwab school fund gets big donation

The bid to save Weatherly's landmark school got a big boost last week.

A Hazleton area resident decided to donate $5,000 to the Mrs. C.M. Schwab School restoration project.Thomas McBride's donation, which was received last week, marks the largest donation to date to the project. He will also be the first platinum-level donor, by giving at least $5,000, according to Charlie Palermo, president of the board of the restoration project.The board also received two separate $1,000 donations last week, and continues to see those who pledged money to the project come through with cash donations.McBride's $5,000 donation will be commemorated on a plaque to be placed at the school. Plaques will also be made for Gold ($1,000+), silver ($500+), and bronze ($100+) -level donations. For more information, contact Palermo at 570-582-5028.
