A quick response by Palmerton firefighters kept an appliance fire from spreading just after 10 a.m. in a home in the 1500 block of Mauch Chunk Road. Firemen were scene examining an appliance they took out of the two-story wood frame dwelling.

Palmerton fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
