A 53-year-old Stroudsburg woman is facing a number of serious charges as a result of an incident at 8:49 p.m. Wednesday in Monroe County.

State police at the Lehighton barracks said she was stopped for summary violations of the Motor Vehicle Code, after which time it was determined she was driving under the influence.Police also learned she was driving while under suspension. Police said when she was placed under arrest, the woman became aggressive and resisted and assaulted an officer, resulting in additional charges.The incident happened along Kunkletown Road, east of Weir Lake Road, in Ross Township.
