Snow tonight into Monday morning

A period of light snow late tonight into early Monday morning may cause slippery travel on untreated surfaces, especially near and north of Interstate 80 in northeastern Pennsylvania and far Northwestern New Jersey.

The light snow is expected to taper off by mid morning on Monday.

Precipitation on Tuesday and Tuesday night will mainly be rain across the area. However, there is an outside risk for freezing rain in the coldest spots in the southern Poconos and far Northwestern New Jersey.

The forecast:

Tonight: Rain and snow likely before 3am, then snow likely between 3am and 5am, then snow likely, possibly mixed with rain after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Monday: Rain likely, possibly mixed with snow before 7am, then a chance of snow between 7am and 10am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 47. Calm wind becoming west 5 to 8 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 29. Northwest wind around 6 mph becoming northeast after midnight.

Tuesday: A chance of rain and sleet between 10am and noon, then rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 40. East wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Little or no sleet accumulation expected.

Tuesday Night: Rain before 8pm, then rain, possibly mixed with sleet between 8pm and 9pm, then rain after 9pm. Low around 35. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday: A chance of rain before noon, then a chance of showers between noon and 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday Night: A chance of showers after 1am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
