Dog licenses available

Schuylkill County Treasurer Linda Marchalk reminds all Schuylkill County dog owners that 2016 dog licenses are now available for purchase. State law requires that all dogs 3 months or older be licensed by Jan. 1.

Failure to license a dog is a summary offense and a maximum fine of $300 may be issued for each unlicensed dog.License fees are: regular, $8.50; spayed/neutered dog, $6.50; lifetime license, $51.50 for un-neutered/un-spayed dogs or $31.50 for spayed/neutered dogs. Discounted fees are available for senior citizens and the disabled.Fees collected through dog licensing are used to fund the Department of Agriculture Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement, which helps protect the health, safety and welfare of dogs.The Pennsylvania dog licensing program is administered by the Department of Agriculture.
