Tax reassessment project begins in Monroe

Monroe County is well into the first phase of its property tax reassessment. The $6.5 million project will include a reassessment of all 103,000 properties on the tax rolls in the county. The first phase of the project involves specially equipped vans which drive through the area taking photographs of properties.

The vans, which belong to Tyler Technologies, the contractor hired to do the reassessment, are white and have cameras mounted on them. The vans have completed gathering information in a large portion of the county already and will soon be moving into Chestnuthill and other parts of the West End.The second phase of the project has already begun in the areas where the vans have completed photographing properties. During the second phase, data collectors will visit each of the properties to collect additional information, obtain measurements and add information on improvements not visible from the street. Each data collector will be wearing bright yellow vests with Tyler Technologies written on the back and will have yellow identification badges as well. The data collectors are currently working in Stroudsburg Borough. The Times News will post up-to-date schedules of van locations over the next few weeks in print and on our Facebook page.
