A Schuylkill County driver was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 3:19 p.m. on Monday along Glenworth Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Robert G. Smith, 48, of Minersville, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Corsica eastbound when the car went onto the south berm and struck a utility pole with the front driver's side. After impact the car rotated counter-clockwise about 90 degrees coming to final rest on its passenger side against the guide rail.Smith had to be extricated from the vehicle by rescue personnel and was then flown by medical helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest with serious injuries, troopers said. The vehicle and pole were heavily damaged.Troopers said Smith will be cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
