Services announced for beloved Palmerton coach

Services have been announced for a Palmerton coach who died suddenly last Wednesday.

Eugene F. "Geno" Roberts Jr., 63, of Palmerton, died suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 23 in Palmerton Hospital. He was the husband of Cynthia L. (Green) Roberts. They were married 46 years.

His love for kids and sports was widely known in the Palmerton area, where he coached basketball, baseball and football from booster club and knee-hi levels all the way to high school varsity over a 38-year career. He also created and ran a summertime basketball skills camp for area youths.

Geno was incredibly generous with his time and his spirit. Always willing to spend time after practice helping young athletes master their skills, or offering a smile and cheerful conversation to all those he met on his trips along Delaware Avenue, he made life in Palmerton better for everyone.

A memorial celebration of life, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the auditorium of Palmerton Area High School, 3525 Fireline Rd, Palmerton. Call 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at T.K. Thomas Funeral Home, 145 Delaware Ave, Palmerton.

Contributions: Palmerton youth sports association of one's choice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
