Blue Mountain starts making snow

The weather has turned cold, ideal conditions for Blue Mountain Resort to begin blowing snow.

Blue Mountain Resort has fired up the snow guns in preparation for the start of the 2016-17 winter season, according to Melissa Yingling, Marketing Specialist.“Cooler temperatures and lower humidity are providing a big window of opportunity to build a base on most trails,” Yingling said. “The snow guns dust the trails overnight into the early morning hours, depending on the weather.”Yingling added, “This exciting event gets the resort one step closer to opening their doors for a fun winter season.”To get ready for the season, Yingling said the resort will release its 2016-2017 Shared Packs on Black Friday. These deals include three tickets to be used throughout the season, and are available through Dec. 24.Starting at just $99, there are five packages available, including midweek tickets, weekend and holiday tickets, and lesson packages, with and without rentals. The resort is also introducing a Beginner Shred Pack for the season, which includes three beginner lift tickets and lessons, meant for those who are looking to learn in a safe environment.Upon completion of the third lesson, graduates of the program are eligible to receive a free season pass, valid after Presidents Day, Feb. 20.The season pass incentive is only valid to guests who have never had a season pass with the Resort. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 3, the resort will host its first ever Gingerbread House Workshop.Guests will make gingerbread houses, while listening to acoustic music played by Santa Claus, who will also be visiting with children, providing a special gift for kids 12-and-under.Later that evening, the resort will host its annual Ugly Sweater Party for guests 21 years of age and older. There will be music, food, beverages, and a variety of prizes for the most festive attendees.Information regarding Shred Pack deals and upcoming events can be found on the resort’s Facebook page, and at
