Two charged in $1,800 retail theft

Two people have been charged for their roles in a retail theft earlier this month.

Mahoning Township Police said that at 9:12 p.m. Nov. 11, police investigated a retail theft at Walmart.While police were responding to the store, the suspects fled in a vehicle.Police later located and stopped the vehicle on Fredericks Grove Road.During the stop, two carts of merchandise valued at over $1,800 were recovered.Jennifer Miller, 37, homeless and formerly of Coaldale, has been charged with retail theft, criminal conspiracy-retail theft, and criminal trespass.William Wassel, 42, of Port Carbon, has been charged with retail theft and criminal conspiracy-retail theft.Both were placed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000, 10 percent bail.
