Twelve defendants charged with driving under the influence entered guilty pleas on Tuesday in Carbon County court.
President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted pleas from the following:Peter Edward Foder, 59, of Palmerton, was arrested on Aug. 8 along Court Street in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.30 BAC.He was sentenced to serve 45 days to six months in jail, a fine of $750 and one-year license suspension.He will begin the jail term at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 18 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.Thomas R. Zimmerman, 68, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 4, 2015, along Second Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.21 BAC.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Michael Paul Rehrig, 33, of Palmerton, was arrested on Nov. 15, 2015, along Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred.Stephen C. Popovich, 58, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 24 by Lehighton police at South Ninth Street and Route 443. A test revealed a 0.25 BAC.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300.Wayne Paul Heffelfinger, 51, of Coaldale, was arrested on April 23 along Route 209 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to possession of drug paraphernalia.Sentencing was deferred.Joshua Jason Miccicke, 21, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on May 23, 2015, along Route 248 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.09 BAC. He was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program but was revoked for violating conditions.He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $300 and a one-year license suspension. He was given credit for five days spent in a detox program and paroled.Jeremy David Gerhart,46, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on July 15 along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC. He also pleaded to driving under suspension.He was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, fined $300 and a one-year license suspension. On the summary count he was fined $200.He will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. Nov. 18.Eric Elsbeth Hosfeld,37, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Aug. 23 at the intersection of Route 209 and Wargo Road in Towamensing Township. A test revealed a 0.25 BAC.She was placed on probation for six months and fined $300. She has another DUI count pending.On a summary motor vehicle code violation she was fined $25.James Allen Rhodes,43, of Stroudsburg, was arrested on May 25 along Pohopoco Drive in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred because Rhodes needs to get a drug and alcohol evaluation.Mark David Felker, 23, of Bath, was arrested on April 24, 2014, by state police at Lehighton along Golf Road in Lower Towamensing Township. A test revealed a 0.21 BAC. Felker was previously placed in the ARD program but revoked for violating conditions.Sentencing was deferred so Felker can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Aaron David Marks, 31, of Allentown, was arrested on June 18 by fish and boat commission officers at Beltzville State Park for operating a boat under the influence of alcohol. A test revealed a 0.10 BAC.He was placed on probation for six months and ordered to pay a fine of $300, his boating license was suspended for a year and he was ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation. On a summary offense he was fined $200.Robert L. Matlock,30, of Blakeslee, was arrested on May 24, 2014, along Route 209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred to Matlock can obtain a comprehensive drug and alcohol evaluation.Vehicle codeChristine Ann Trotta,48, of Palmerton, pleaded to two summary motor vehicle code violations of driving under suspension and driving with an altered license. She was arrested on May 20 by Beltzville Park rangers along Pohopoco Drive in Franklin Township.Nanovic imposed fines totaling $300.All defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee. DUI defendants must also follow all recommendations of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
