UPDATE: Power restored in Tamaqua

PPL is reporting on the utility's power outage website that power has been restored to 765 customers in Tamaqua as of 11:15 p.m. Saturday.

A downed tree that may have impacted a transformer along the coal breaker road between Stadium Hill and West Cottage Avenue, leading to the outage.

Steady sleet and snow was hitting the area at the time.

The 9:45 p.m. blackout impacted areas west of Hunter Street, including most of the South Ward and the south side of West Broad Street. The area includes businesses and a residential section of the west end of town.

The incident also caused lights to blink in other areas of the community.
