Panther Valley volleyball team honored

The Panther Valley school board set aside time during their monthly meeting Thursday night to recognize members of the girls' volleyball team for their exciting run through the playoffs this fall.

The team had one of their most successful years ever, winning the District 11 Class AA title, and reaching the Schuylkill League Finals by defeating much larger schools.At Thursday's meeting of the Panther Valley School Board, the team was recognized for their success.Superintendent Dennis Kergick said that the team impressed him not only athletically, but with their hard work in the classroom as well."It was one of the most stupendous experiences of my career here, watching you ladies compete and represent our district so well," Kergick said.Athletic director Kristin Black said that it has been 30 years since the volleyball team was as successful as this year."I am very, very, very proud of these ladies. It was awesome. The community was awesome," Black said.One of the team's seniors, Danielle Hudicka, also serves as a student representative on the school board.Speaking on behalf of the team, senior Chloe Markovich said that the support of parents and Panther Valley residents helped them achieve their success."We would like to just thank the Panther Valley community for their support. We got a lot of support this season from the fans and family members. It really makes a difference on the court knowing the community supports us," Markovich said.
