Three defendants in pending drug-related cases entered guilty pleas on Tuesday in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas from the following:Drugs foundDavid Arthur Messinger, 29, of Palmerton, pleaded to one count each of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.He was arrested on May 12 when Palmerton police responded to 271 Avenue A for a reported disturbance. On scene officers said Messinger admitted there was heroin in the residence and consented to a search. Officers found 12 baggies of suspected heroin and a large supply of empty baggies used in packaging drugs.Messinger told the court he had been using heroin for the past year and claimed he stopped in May when arrested. He also spent 28 days in an inpatient rehabilitation program and another 85 days in a home in Wilkes-Barre for those fighting drug addiction.On the possession of controlled substance count Nanovic sentenced him to serve three to 12 months in the county prison and one year probation on the paraphernalia count, with the terms running consecutively.He was also ordered to continue his aftercare program, get full time employment and zero tolerance for drug use. He was given credit for 58 days spent in inpatient drug programs.He has 32 days still to serve and will begin the prison term at 9 a.m. Nov. 21.Other casesDaniel Patrick McGoldrick, 22, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested on July 1, 2014, in the West End Recreation area by Palmerton police. He was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program probation but was revoked for violating conditions.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he get a drug and alcohol evaluation. It was noted he has a pending driving under the influence case.Matthew Charles Althouse,20, of Bowmanstown, pleaded to one count of possession of a small amount of marijuana and a summary offense of violation of rules on commonwealth property. Two counts of corruption of a minor and one count of persistent disorderly conduct were dropped.Althouse was arrested on Jan. 17, 2015, by park rangers who found his unattended vehicle parked at the Wild Creek Trail parking lot after hours. Two juveniles were with him at the time when he returned to the vehicle. Marijuana was found.Nanovic imposed fines totaling $300.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
