Walker Township residents aren't likely to see an increase in their municipal property tax rates next year.

The township's board of supervisors agreed Sunday night to advertise the 2017 preliminary budget withno increase.If the board were to approve next year's spending plan, it would once again leave the property tax rate in check at 5.54 mills."There is no tax increase for 2017," said township secretary Dana Brubaker. "Always nice to report no tax increase."The board plans to grant the budget final adoption when it meets at 11 a.m. Dec. 10.Fire company reimbursedAlso on Sunday, the board agreed to reimburse the New England Fire Company for the prior year expenses, as well as up through this September.At a special meeting last month, the board tabled the approval of the payment of the bills to the New England Fire Company.Other businessIn other action, the board:• Advertised for a part-time secretary, as Brubaker said she will be staying on only as the treasurer come the new year.
