Pilla a key part of Philadelphia University volleyball success

Former Times News Player of the Year and Marian Catholic standout Emily Pilla has had a big season for the Philadelphia University women's volleyball team.

Pilla, a sophomore, has tallied 268 digs, a team-leading 51 aces and 23 kills this season. Her dig total is fourth on the team. Pilla is one of only five Rams to have played in all 30 matches this year.Philly U. - which is eighth in the NCAA Division II East Region Rankings - ended the regular season with an overall record of 26-4 and captured the CACC Southern Division title with an 18-1 conference mark. The Rams have won 14 straight matches-the third-longest streak in program history.The Rams begin the CACC Tournament against Nyack College tonight at 7 p.m. in the Gallagher Center. Philadelphia won the only meeting of the season between the two schools, 3-1, on Oct. 8.
