West Penn Township residents don't figure to see an increase in their municipal property tax rates next year.

That's after the township's board of supervisors Monday morning approved the 2017 proposed budget withno increase.If the board were to approve next year's spending plan, it would once again leave the property tax rate unchanged at 4.75 mills.Supervisor Tony Prudenti noted that the board was able to save $28,000 on benefits and insurance for police, as well as $17,000 by switching around insurances.Last week, the board agreed on a 2-1 vote to increase the local service tax from $10 to $52, which will only affect people who are employed in the township.Raising the LST will generate about an additional $23,000 for the township.The board plans to grant the budget final adoption when it meets at 7 p.m. Dec. 5.
