Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on two crashes investigated by troopers over the past weekend.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:40 a.m. on Friday along Route 209 in Port Carbon borough. Troopers said James F. Hancock, 63, of West Columbia, South Carolina, was operating a 2013 Freightliner tractor with trailer northbound when he swerved to miss another vehicle that was driving on the double yellow line. The rig struck the guide rail on the right side. After impact one of the tractor's tires struck the side of a bridge and then another section of guide rail. One of its axles became damaged disabling the rig.Hancock was not injured.The second crash occurred at 1:56 p.m. Saturday along Route 443 in Washington Township. Troopers said Frank M. Keller, 62, and Tara L. Brown, 44, both of Pine Grove, were eastbound near Lengle Homestead Road. Keller's 2001 Ford Focus struck Brown's 2012 Chevrolet Cruz in the rear as she slowed down to make a right turn onto Lengle Homestead Road.No one was injured. Troopers cited Keller for following too closely.
