To tell the truth

To arrive at the truth both sides of an issue must be heard, then people can decide what to believe. So exercising that right I would like to comment on the recent letter parishioners of St. Joseph Church in Summit Hill received.

The letter detailed the condition of the closed St. Katharine church in Lansford. It said there are no CURRENT plans to demolish St. Katharine's. What about FUTURE plans? The future starts tomorrow. How long will the diocese be willing to pay real estate tax? Don't forget Our Lady of the Angels Academy school is closed. In case you don't know, the school was closed because the demolition crew can't get to the church, so they have to take down the school first. The photo gallery attached to the letter has four photos of the exterior that are not of St. Katharine church and outdated pictures of items already repaired. The repair cost estimates are ridiculous. Most needed repairs are cosmetic. The 2015-16 financial reports are suspect and hard to believe. If the truth should be told, you know this is all about the sale of St. Katharine's granite, stained-glass windows, ceiling painting and stations of the cross. A windfall for the diocese.Sincerely,Robert S. HackashLansford
