Monday'smeeting of the Palmerton Area Historical Society will feature a talk by Rick Smith on the sinking of the Lusitania. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. in the Knights Gallery (second floor) of the Palmerton Area Library, 402 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, and is open to the public without charge.Blood DriveMiller-Keystone Center's last community blood drive of 2016 will be held onNov. 16, as planned, but at a new location, the West End Fire Co. No. 2, 855 West Princeton Ave. Plenty of off-street parking is available. Registration hours, as usual, will be 11:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. This drive is sponsored by Horsehead Community Development Fund.The Palmerton Area is fortunate to have a number of regular donors who appear for nearly every drive. However the goal can't be reached without additional first-time or "occasional" donors. Anyone over 17, weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health who has not donated since Sept. 20 is eligible.First-time Miller-Keystone donors should bring photo ID, such as a driver's license. Previous donors, please bring your Miller-Keystone cards. Walk-ins are also welcome. All donated items benefit Turning Point.
