Ross Township’s board of supervisors welcomed a new solicitor to their board at Monday night’s meeting.

Tim McManus also serves as solicitor of Chestnuthill township’s board of supervisors, and is a partner at Cramer, Swetz, McManus, & Jordan P.C. in Stroudsburg. A graduate of Temple Law, McManus’ practice areas include real estate, business law, commercial law, zoning, planning and land use, and municipal law.“I’m very happy to be here. It’s close to my home, so it’s an easy commute to get here,” McManus said with a laugh.McManus is also on the board of directors for the Monroe County Bar Association, where he serves as vice president. He has also served on the boards of several nonprofit organizations in the area, including the Monroe County chapter of the American Red Cross.“This is probably one of the only townships, in all the years that I’ve been doing this, that I didn’t get out here, workwise or anything else. It’s great to be out here, and I’m looking forward to it, very much,” McManus said.McManus replaces former solicitor John Dunn, whose resignation was accepted on Monday night as well.The board of directors approved the purchase of a Dodge dual wheel drive diesel utility truck for $44,483.The two-door regular cab vehicle, with an aluminum Reading body and undercoating, was selected after roadmaster Ethan Brewer had submitted a list of available options to the board.Brewer had examined the truck to ensure that it could be fitted with a snowplow, as it may be used for emergency snow removal if necessary.Chairman Howard Beers Jr. emphasized that the service for the vehicle was a deciding factor in the decision.“The guys over at the Dodge place in Pen Argyl, they’re excellent. Those guys, they’ll take you right in and fix it,” Beers said of Reagle Dodge, where the truck will be purchased.A proposed budget for 2017 was approved to be advertised and adopted on Dec. 5.Supervisor Russell Kresge Jr. had one objection to the original budget, suggesting that $16,000 be moved from the insurance section to the equipment purchases section. Kresge explained that the money had been allocated for a position that the board had decided not to fill, and would better serve as funding for necessary equipment.John Wehrenberg was hired as a full-time road crew member, at the rate of $17.86 per hour.
