Carbon center hosts well program

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center is teaming up with the Keystone Clean Water Team to offer low-cost well-water testing for area residents.

Test kits are available at CCEEC now.Homeowners may collect water samples and return them at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with Environmental Consultant and Hydrogeologist Brian Oram performing certain tests immediately. Other results will be mailed confidentially within two weeks.Two testing options are available: a $60 screening, which includes tests for pH, nitrates, hardness and other parameters; and a $90 option, which includes over 15 additional tests such as those for bacteria, chloride and sodium.All area residents are invited to a short well-water quality presentation at 6 p.m. on Wednesdayregardless of participation in the testing.Homeowners with wells are encouraged to test their water at least once a year.For more information call the CCEEC at 570-645-8597 or email Susan Gallagher at
