• The American Legion Post 16 in Slatington will conduct annual Veterans Day services at 10:45 a.m. Sundayat Slatington Baptist Church, 509 Main St. President Dennis Ziegler, Commander George Burke, Auxiliary Chaplain Lynda Kistler, and the SAL Commander Mike Sutton will be in charge of the services. Legionnaires, Auxiliary and SAL should meet at the Post Home at 10:15 a.m.• Palmerton is hosting the Carbon County Veterans Parade beginning at 1:30

p.m.Sunday. Parade participants should arrive at noon. On the same day, the Palmerton veterans committee will be hosting a flag raising and dedication ceremony at the new flagpole.• The Monroe County Veterans Association will be hosting the 2016 Veterans Day Parade on Sunday. The parade will leave Stroudsburg High School (1100 W. Main St.) at 1 p.m. and will end at Dansbury Park. A celebration picnic and ceremony will then be led by the Monroe County Joint Honor Guard at 2:30 p.m. in Dansbury Park. All are welcome to attend.• The American Legion Post 927, 646 Fairgrounds Road, Gilbert, will hold its annual Veterans Day services at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. Guest speakers include state Sen. Mario Scavello, state Rep. Jack Rader, state Rep. Rosemary Brown. The services are open to the public, and it will be an indoor event. Refreshments and a light lunch will be served.• At 8 a.m. Nov. 11, veterans will go to Pleasant Valley Elementary School, where they will meet the buses. The children will enter the school and line the halls to salute the veterans as they enter. Everyone will go into the auditorium to listen to the veterans’ stories, which will end at 10 a.m.• The Shrine of St. Therese will honor all veterans during a special veterans retreat from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the shrine, 15 E.
