Teen flown to hospital

A teen was flown to a Lehigh Valley area hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday evening in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said the crash occurred at 9:51 p.m. along Cold Run Road in East Brunswick Township.Troopers said Cody T. Houser, 16, of New Ringgold, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier northbound and negotiating a right curve when lost control.The Cavalier began to fishtail and swerved between the two lanes of travel.William J. Jones, 51, of Tamaqua, driving a 2008 Mazda CX-7, was southbound and attempted to brake and steer toward the shoulder to avoid the Cavalier.The Cavalier slid into the southbound lane with the front hitting the front right of the Mazda.Houser was treated at the scene by New Ringgold ambulance personnel, then flown to the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest.Jones was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital, Miner’s campus in Coaldale.Troopers were assisted at the scene by New Ringgold Community Fire Company volunteers.Both drivers were wearing seat belts, troopers said.Houser was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed.
