A fire damaged a shed in Franklin Township Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. at a home on Pine Cove Court. The homeowner told police that a malfunctioning meat smoker in the structure caused the blaze.A German Shepherd was in an enclosure next to the shed at the time, but a resident of the home was able to quickly move him to safety.Firefighters from Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Department and Parryville Volunteer Fire Co. #2 responded to the incident.
