An arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in Kline Township, Schuylkill County.
State police at Frackville announced that Eric Mumaw, 29, of Kline Township, Schuylkill County, has been charged in connection with the death of David Gombert, 27, of Hazle Township, Luzerne County.Mumaw was arrested last night on charges of third degree murder, voluntary manslaughter, aggravated and simple assault, prohibited offensive weapon and related counts. He was arraigned by on-call District Judge David Plachko of Port Carbon and committed to the county prison in Pottsville. No bail can be set by a magistrate for a murder charge, only a judge of the court of common pleas can do that.Gombert was shot in the torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. Mumaw was also injured in the incident and received medical attention.Mumaw and Gombert had a confrontation in front of Mumaw home at 34 James St., McAdoo Heights section of the township. Troopers said Gombert went to Mumaw’s home about 9:25 a.m. to confront him about Mumaw allegedly making comments about Gombert, troopers said. During the confrontation a gun was discharged striking Gombert in the chest.Police from McAdoo and Kline Township responded to the scene and assisted in the investigation with the state police major case unit and its forensic services unit. The county coroner’s office also assisted.
