Carbon County court - DUI

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II imposed the following sentences in Carbon County court this week:

Tammy Lee Scott, 40, of Albrightsville, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Oct. 25, 2015, along Route 209 in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton after being involved in a rear-end collision. She was injured in the crash and taken to a hospital. Troopers obtained a blood test, which showed the presence of a controlled substance.Nanovic also ordered her to get a mental health evaluation, pay a fine of $1,000 and her license was suspended for a year. On a summary count of careless driving she was fined $25 and costs.She began the jail term immediately.John Edward Witcofsky, 43, of Lehighton was placed on probation for a year on a DUI charge. He was arrested on July 4, 2015, along Fairyland Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed a 0.26 BAC.He was also fined $300.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
