At Thursday night's school board meeting, Director of Support Services Joshua Krebs told the directors that the district had no real choice other than to undertake a complete repair to the roof of the abandoned district warehouse on Interchange Road in Polk Township.

"It is leaking right now," Krebs said. "We need to protect this investment or it will continue to lose value. Today it is the roof, but that could lead to a lot more problems. We don't want to have to replace the floor or remediate mold because of water damage.""Besides," Krebs said. "It will add value for whomever is interested in buying the building."Krebs said that the cost should be between $130,000 and $140,000. The board approved a not-to-exceed of $140,000.Also on the agenda was awarding the contract to a Realtor to list the warehouse for sale. The contract was awarded to Re/MAX Commercial Partners at a commission rate of 6 percent.The Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network had been interested in purchasing the building but the cost of the building, the repairs and the possibility of needing roadwork along Route 209 made it not feasible for a not-for-profit entity.The Building and Grounds Committee had also made a recommendation for the purchase of a Halo Fogger from Global Access Medical. The portable machine uses a fog to cleanse the air and surfaces in a closed room. The fogger will be used to sanitize any room where there is a concern with germs, bacteria or mold.The machine cost $8,286.80 including several cases of the product.
