October 28, 1993 - Northern Lehigh's John Heatter and Jim Thorpe's Kristin Smith both finish third at the District 11 Class AA cross country meet in Bethlehem. Heatter crosses the finish line in 16:51, six seconds behind winner Shawn Hoch of Bethlehem Catholic. Smith, who held the lead at the one-mile mark, ends in a time of 20:40. The Palmerton boys, led by the fourth-place finish of Jeff Minnich, finish in second as a team to advance to states. Nolehi's Tim Pfluger took sixth in the boys race, while Tamaqua's Linda Lazur (seventh), Jim Thorpe's Angi Lager (eighth), and Nolehi's Kande Peters (ninth) all finished in the top 10 of the girls race.
