Schuylkill crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating three crashes, two hit-and-runs, over the past weekend on Schuylkill County roads.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 3:15 p.m. on Friday along Sweet Arrow Lake Road in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Lawrence O. Spilde, 68, of Reading, was driving a 2003 Toyota Corolla westbound and negotiating a left-hand curve when he lost control. The Toyota slid off the road and struck an embankment. Spilde and his passenger, Josephine M. Spilde, 67, same address, were transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville, for treatment of minor injuries.Spilde was cited for the crash.• The first hit-and-run was reported at 12:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Pottsville Park Plaza, located off Route 61 in Norwegian Township. A parked 2015 Subaru Forester was struck on the back right side by another vehicle whose driver fled the scene. Damages were minor to the Subaru.• The second hit-and-run was reported at 1 a.m. Saturday along Savory Street in Palo Alto. A vehicle was driven westbound when the right front struck a parked 2015 Subaru Crosstrek on the left front. The driver then fled the scene.Anyone with information concerning either hit-and-run is asked to call troopers at 570-739-1330.• Also, Danielle Sobinsky, 22, of Ringtown, had minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash at 9:33 a.m. Oct. 18 on Route 924 in East Union Township, according to state police at Frackville.Police said she was driving a 2016 Hyundai Sonata northbound and failed to stop in time, striking the rear-end of an International Harvester operated by Victor R. Molina, 45, of West New York, New Jersey.Police said she was transported to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton Campus, in the Shenandoah ambulance.The car was towed from the scene.Sobinsky was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.• State police at Frackville said Maria Monroe, 60, of Shenandoah, was driving a 1979 Mercury Zephyr northbound on Route 924 between Brandonville and Sheppton, in East Union Township at 7:55 a.m. when a deer entered the road in front of her. She struck the deer while negotiating a left curve in the road.Monroe was not injured but the Mercury had to be towed. Troopers cited Monroe for not having a valid license.
