The Coaldale Volunteer Fire Company is continuing its outreach program, seeking to add new members to its firefighting roster.

The company will hold another recruitment session on Sundayfrom 9 a.m. to noon at the fire company on East High Street.The firefighters point out additional manpower is needed to preserve the future safety of residents and their properties, since membership has decreased substantially and other members of the company are aging.Regular membership in the company is open to individuals 18 and older. The company is also seeking junior members between the ages of 14-18.Anyone interested in joining the company is invited to stop by the fire company headquarters, where the firefighters will be available to provide information on the company and to discuss volunteerism in the fire service.Those unable to attend any of the recruitment session can call the fire company at 570-645-3796 and leave a message for a member of the company to make a return call.
