A Tamaqua man was cited by Schuylkill Township Police after a burglary in Newkirk on Oct. 9.
According to Sgt. Anthony Stanell, someone entered a home located on Old Route 209 Road by kicking in a basement door. Once inside the home, the burglar took a purse and a pet rabbit.On Oct. 12, David H. Hartranft, 22, of 502 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, contacted the victim to tell her the rabbit was stuffed in a 5-gallon bucket behind her house. The rabbit survived the ordeal.Hartranft was charged with felony counts of burglary and criminal trespass; misdemeanor counts of theft, receiving stolen property and animal endangerment/abandonment; and a summary count of criminal mischief.
