Library collects items for veteransPanther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St. in Lansford, will be collecting hats, gloves, scarves and socks for our men and women veterans.These items will be given to Paul's House VALOR Clinic in Jonas.This organization helps veterans down on their luck to get back on their feet.You may drop off your items at the library until Nov. 10.Please help us to help the men and women who have served our country.NesquehoningRecreation centerThe Nesquehoning Recreation Center will host a number of activities in October.On Saturday, a multifamily yard sale will be held at the recreation center, 335 W. Railroad St., from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The kitchen will be open.A kiddie Halloween bingo will be held for borough children on Sunday. Doors open at noon and bingo begins at 1 p.m.An adult-only Halloween dance will be held from 7-11 p.m. Oct. 29. Costumes for the event are encouraged.Advance tickets are available by calling Kim at 570-313-4215 or Pam at 570-926-9389.On Oct. 30, a children's Halloween party will be held at 6 p.m.The event is open to borough children.Parents can register their child for the party during bingo or during the week.The next meeting of the recreation commission will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at the recreation center.For more information, call 570-669-9121.Electronics recyclingNesquehoning is holding a free electronics recycling event from 2-5 p.m. on Thursday.The event, operated by Responsible Recycling Services, will take place at the borough's recycling bins, located along Locust Street.A number of electronics will be accepted for free, while some items, including household appliances, televisions and stereos can be accepted with a fee.If recycling an item that has a fee, only cash and checks accepted.Checks should be made payable to Responsible Recycling Services or RRS.Contact the Times News at 800-443-0377 or
