Lehighton man gets probation for motel thefts

A Carbon County man was sentenced to probation terms on Monday in the county court after previously pleading guilty to theft counts and criminal trespass for incidents at two county motels.

Trevor Clarence Hartranft, 38, of Lehighton, was placed on probation for a total of two years on two theft and the trespass charges.Hartranft was charged for an incident on March 12 at Mooney's Motel in Franklin Township. He was charged with taking a Shopvac from the motel where he had rented a room.He was charged by Lehighton police for an incident on June 8 at the Mahoning Inn along Route 443 where he took tools from a truck parked at the motel where he had also rented a room.Hartranft is currently an inmate in the county prison serving a sentence for a parole violation.Judge Joseph J. Matika also ordered him to make total restitution to the two victims of $2,130, render 50 hours of community service when released from his current sentence, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, have no contact with the victims, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
