Walnutport man charged with sending photos to underage girl

Samuel Dotter, 32, of Walnutport, faces charges after police said he sent vulgar pictures of himself to an underage girl in two counts of unlawful contact with a minor, and one count each of corruption of minors, indecent exposure, and harassment.

According to the affidavit filed by Det. Kevin Buck of the Palmerton Police Department:On Aug. 7, it was reported that a 16-year-old juvenile girl had received several electronically transmitted photos of a male’s private parts.The girl said they had been sent to her via Facebook by a user identified as Sam Dotter.According to a search warrant, Dotter contacted the girl via Messenger and had a conversation with her.After several messages back and forth, Dotter sent her five pictures of male genitalia.At that time, the girl told him her age and he responded by stating that he would have sex with her.Dotter then sent three more pictures to the girl, who said that she then blocked him on Facebook, and contacted the police department.On Sept. 26, Buck was provided three different phone numbers linked to Dotter, but found two of them had been disconnected, while the third one belonged to someone else.Buck called the Walnutport Police Department and requested they go to Dotter’s residence.Dotter was instructed to call the Palmerton Police Department immediately, but failed to do so.On Sept. 27, Buck went to Dotter’s residence in Walnutport, but was unable to make contact with him there.Buck contacted Dotter by an additional phone number that had been provided and told Dotter he needed to speak with him about some pictures that had been sent to a juvenile.Dotter said he would contact Buck and come to the Palmerton Police Department later that day, but he didn’t.He was arrested and remains in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000, 10-percent bail.He is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing at 11 a.m. Wednesday before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton.
