Fern Ridge crashes

State police at Fern Ridge reported on numerous crashes investigated by troopers over the past few weeks.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:44 a.m. on Sept. 12 along Route 715 in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Ariel R. Mejia, 20, of Brodheadsville, was stopped for a stop sign at the Idlewood Drive intersection while Ashley D. Honey, 24, of Saylorsburg, was southbound on 715. Mejia pulled out from the stop sign and struck the rear of Honey's 2005 Cadillac CT with the front of his 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt. Honey lost control of her vehicle and it overturned. No one was injured.Mejia was cited.• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 5:58 p.m. on Sept. 14 along Sherwood Forest Road in Jackson Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Christopher C. Kane, 26, of Saylorsburg, was driving westbound on a 1990 Harley-Davidson motorcycle while Cheryl K. Ely, 59, of Stroudsburg, was attempting a left turn into a driveway at 1227 Sherwood Forest Road. As she slowed to make the turn in her 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, Kane wasn't able to stop and struck the rear corner bumper of the Subaru with his bike. Kane sustained a minor injury and was taken to Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg. Troopers cited Kane for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.• A rear-end collision occurred at 10:26 a.m. on Sept. 22 along Old Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. A 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander driven by Shea V. Divittorio, 29, of Easton, rear-ended a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport operated by Lloyd E. Neal, 84, of Saylorsburg. No one was injured.Troopers cited Divittorio for following too closely.• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 10:54 a.m. on Sept. 22 along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Cindy Bontempo, 58, of Brodheadsville, driving a 2014 Chrysler 300, failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled out in front of a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by Richard G. Kipp, 65, of Scranton, and a collision occurred. Kipp sustained a minor injury and was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel.Troopers cited Bontempo for the crash.• A 16-year-old male from Effort was driving a 2003 Lexus ES300 on Jonas Road in Chestnuthill Township, on Sept. 23 at 9:27 p.m. when it left the road and struck a tree. The teen was injured and taken to the PMC by West End ambulance. He was cited for the crash.• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 7:33 p.m. on Sept. 28 along Weir Lake Road at Veronia Lane, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Michael R. Hanney, 35, of Kunkletown, driving a 2013 Ford Focus was northbound and attempted a left turn onto Weir Lake Road when his vehicle was struck by a 1993 Subaru Forrester driven by Ginamaria Gorgone, 48, of Albrightsville, who was southbound. Gorgone suffered a minor injury that did not require immediate medical attention. Hanney and an 11-year-old passenger with Gorgonewere not injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.Troopers cited Hanney for vehicle turning left.• A three-vehicle, rear-end crash was reported at 4:27 p.m. Sept. 29 at the intersection of Route 209 at Camelia Road, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said the front of a 2003 Chrysler Sebring operated by Shane M. Hille, 18, of Mount Bethel, struck the rear of a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Rasean D. Lawson, 21, of East Stroudsburg, pushing it into the rear of a 2012 Nissan Rogue driven by Celeste A. Everett, 61, of Saylorsburg.No one was injured. Troopers cited Hille for following too closely.• Troopers investigated a two-vehicle crash at 8:07 a.m. on Sept. 30 along Route 715 in Jackson Township. Troopers said Ashley Berger, 26, of Saylorsburg, was pulling out from Willow Run Lane to make a right onto 715 and struck a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Mathew D. Johnstone, 20, of Albrightsville with her 2013 Nissan Maxima. The car rolled over and came to final rest on its roof in the southbound lane.No one was injured.• At 7:48 p.m. on Sept. 30 a two-vehicle, rear-end crash was reported along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township in front of a McDonald's restaurant. Troopers said Anna L. Airapetian, 29, of New York City, was northbound in a 2010 Mercedes-Benz when her vehicle was struck in the rear by a 2005 Jeep Liberty driven by Brenda L. Heddy, 37, of Kunkletown. A passenger with Heddy, Trisha A. Kurtz, 18, of Kunkletown, sustained a minor injury and was taken to PMC by West End ambulance. No other injuries were reported.Troopers cited Heddy for following too closely.• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 9:49 a.m. on Sept. 30 at the intersection of Route 209 and McIlhaney Road, in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Helen Nyari, 70, of Saylorsburg, was stopped for a stop sign on McIlhaney Road and attempted to make a right turn onto 209 north when she failed to yield to a northbound 2007 Cadillac Escalade driven by Lynette L. Correll, 47, of Wind Gap. Nyari's 2007 Toyota Yaris struck the Escalade. Nyari was injured and taken to PMC by West End ambulance. The Yaris had to be towed.Nyari was cited.• A two-vehicle collision occurred at 12:18 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the intersection of Sugar Hollow and White Church roads in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Carlos Rivera, 51, of Bronx, New York, pulled out from a stop sign on White Church attempting to cross Sugar Hollow when his 2014 Ford F150 pickup struck a 1997 Nissan Maxima driven by Karl M. Cabral, 23, of Effort, who was on Sugar Hollow Road. No one was injured.Rivera was cited for the crash.• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 7:26 p.m. on Oct. 5 along Route 115 at the intersection with Timothy Drive in Chestnuthill Township. Troopers said Angela R. Liero, 19, of Saylorsburg, was at a stop sign on Timothy Drive and attempted to go straight across 115 and failed to yield to a 2014 Volkswagen Passat driven northbound on 115 by Brandi L. Collins, 37, of Effort. Liero's 2001 Volkswagen Passat struck Collins' vehicle. No one was injured but Liero's vehicle had to be towed.Troopers cited Liero for stop signs and yield signs.• A one-vehicle crash involving a deer was reported at 9:51 p.m. on Monday along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Troopers said Michael L. Principe, 63, of Lake Harmony, was driving a 2014 Dodge Journey northbound when he struck a deer. Principe was not injured but damages were disabling to his vehicle.
