An American Red Cross Bloodmobile will be in Tamaqua onOct. 21 at the Tamaqua YMCA, 1201 E. www.redcrossblood.org.Garden Club newsKim Morgan was the guest speaker at the Sept. 27 meeting of the Lewistown Valley Garden, which was held at Zion Church Social Hall. She spoke to the members about the work that goes on behind the scenes at the Schuylkill County Fair.At every meeting, members are welcome to bring arrangements and specimens, which are then judged. Winners in the fall arrangement category were Mary Bridygham, first; Carol Kohn, second; and Georgene Gallagher, third.Bridygham took first place in the specimen category, while second place went to Kohn.The club will celebrate its 170th anniversary with a dinner and program on Oct. 25 at Knepper's Inn. Deadline for reservations will be Oct. 13.Meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month. Vice President Nancy Gerber conducted the business session.The inspirational reading "In October Fields" was offered by the chaplain.Norma Baker was welcomed back after a short absence.The group is open to anyone 55 or older.
