Pike County again rounding up free Halloween candy

MILFORD (AP) - It's no small trick for some people to afford to hand out Halloween treats, that's why an eastern Pennsylvania group is stepping in to help.

WNEP-TV reports that for the second year in a row the Pike County Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations of Halloween candy. The treats will then be distributed to residents who'd like to give out treats but otherwise couldn't afford it.The program provided about 1,000 treats each to 50 residents last year and hopes to double the amount this year.Last year the free treats were given out only to residents of Milford, the tiny borough that serves as the county seat and has about 1,000 residents. This year, some folks in nearby Matamoros will also be getting the free treats.
