A New York state resident was injured when struck by a vehicle in Monroe County. State police at Fern Ridge said the incident occurred at 7:25 p.m. on Friday along Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township, in the area of Keystone Auto Sales.

Troopers said Eugene J. Bluemke, 49, of Brooklyn, walked out of a wooded area adjacent to the road and began to cross 209 without clearance. He walked across the northbound lane and began to enter the southbound lane when he walked into the path of a 2007 Honda CRV operated by Jeffrey A. Smith, 65, of Kunkletown, who was southbound.Bluemke was taken by West End ambulance to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, for treatment of possible serious injuries, troopers said. Smith did not receive any injuries and was not charged in the incident. West End Fire Company volunteers also assisted at the scene.
