Schuylkill man charged with attempted homicide

A Schuylkill County man, who was wanted for attempted homicide in a stabbing and slashing incident, has been apprehended.

State police at Frackville identified the suspect as Harold John McGurl, 43, formerly of Ashland, whose last known residence was the Wernersville Community Corrections Center in Wernersville, Berks County.Troopers said about 1 a.m. on Saturday they responded to the area of 1200-1400 blocks of Spruce Street in Ashland for a report of a man with severe lacerations. On scene troopers found a 28-year-old man. He was subsequently taken for treatment relating to multiple stab and or slice wounds.During the investigation McGurl was identified as the person who attacked the victim. Troopers obtained an arrest warrant for McGurl charging him with attempted homicide and related charges. At the time troopers said McGurl should be considered armed and dangerous.McGurl was later located and taken into custody.
