The Tamaqua Elementary Parent Teacher Organization will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdayin the school library.The meeting will include nominations for officers. Six new members were welcomed: Grace Sakusky, Alice Neff, John Zukas, Donna Patterson, Ray Moton and Helen Johnson.President Bill Morrison conducted the business session. The chaplain offered an inspirational reading titled "God's Love." Birthday wishes were offered to Ruthann Feane, Betty Brobst, Jane Tarter, Rose Vallee and Joyce Krell.A representative from Schuylkill Transportation System spoke to the group about ways to register for and use the STS bus routes.The next meeting will be held Oct. 11, which will be the first day to register for the Dec. 6 Christmas party.Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join.Heritage FestivalThe Tamaqua Historical Society will sponsor its annual Heritage Festival this Sunday. A variety of activities will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the downtown area.Clothing driveSTEP-Up Tamaqua is conducting a clothing drive of gently used business attire, which will be used to help people get back on their feet and contribute to the community.Clothing may be dropped off at the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce office, 37 W.
