A woman was handcuffed and placed into a state police cruiser after being involved in a crash along Mahoning Mountain road Tuesday afternoon.

A short time later a friend of the woman showed up at the scene inquiring about her condition. After speaking to troopers she was also placed in cuffs.Apparently the two had spent the afternoon together. The friend parked her car about a mile from the scene and walked thinking she was safe.The accident occurred as the woman was traveling west on Mahoning Mountain road just before the intersection with Ben Salem road. She failed to negotiate a slight curve in the roadway entering the right berm riding a steep earth embankment.The unit rolled back to the roadway coming to rest on its side. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
