Carbon Court - DUI

Five defendants in pending drunken driving cases entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence and related charges Thursday in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:Marc Earl Stoss,45, of Weissport, pleaded to two counts each of DUI and driving while under suspension-DUI related.He was arrested on the first count on April 24, 2015, along White Street in Weissport by state police at Lehighton. A test revealed a 0.08 BAC.The second arrest was also made by state police along Bridge Street in Weissport on Aug. 28, 2015. A test revealed a 0.16 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Stoss could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation. He is currently an inmate in the county prison.Cory Scott Coons,29, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on March 21, 2015, along Mauch Chunk Street by Mahoning Township police. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.He was also scheduled to be sentenced on another DUI in which he entered a guilty plea on June 28. Sentencing on both cases was deferred so he could apply for placement in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program under house arrest.Paul W. Christman,45, of Effort, was arrested on Sept. 2, 2015, by state police at Lehighton along Route 209 in Nesquehoning. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could apply for placement in the IPP.Jasmine Marie Yaich,31, of Jim Thorpe, was arrested on Jan. 9 along Route 443 by Lehighton police.A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so she could apply for placement in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program.James Andrew Pratola,36, of Bethlehem, was arrested on Oct. 18, 2015, by Palmerton police along Delaware Avenue. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.
