Evening delays on Turnpike through Friday

Drivers traveling southbound on the Northeastern Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 476) in Lehigh County could encounter traveling delays in the evening tonight through Friday.

Construction workers will be installing bridge beams at milepost 68.5 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., which could result in delays between Mahoning Valley, Exit 74, and Lehigh Valley, Exit 56.Turnpike maintenance and state police vehicles will slow traffic to a speed of 20 to 25 miles an hour for 15 minutes at a time. The slow paces are needed for the safety of the workers as they install the beams.Motorists should be prepared for the slow-moving traffic and possible stoppages. Work schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions.
