At the 2016 Bloomsburg Fair, local Christmas tree growers of Schroeder Family Farms in Barnesville were awarded the Grand Champion ribbon for their 8-foot dark green Nordmann fir.

Additionally in 2016, their blue spruce and concolor fir won first prize, with a Fraser fir winning second place. This is the fourth year that Schroeder Family Farms has entered trees in the Bloomsburg Fair.The Christmas tree farm started in 1959 when Daniel A. and son Daniel D. Schroeder began planting the 50-acre, 35,000-tree farm by hand. Today Daniel D.; his wife, Cindy; and son Nicholas operate the third-generation farm, which is located near the west edge of the Tuscarora State Park.For more information, go to
