Tamaqua police recently cited two people for passing bad checks.

Loretta McManaway, 69, of Tresckow was cited after a check she used to pay a fine at the office of District Judge Stephen Bayer was returned for insufficient funds. The check was in the amount of $154.25. She failed to make good on the payment despite getting a certified letter in August.Michele Fabok, 48, of New Ringgold, paid the Borough of Tamaqua for season pool passes with a check for $50, drawn on a Bluebird bank account. The check was returned marked "Not Authorized."
