Tamaqua man arrested on warrant, faces new charges

Hang-up calls to the Schuylkill County Communication Center's 9-1-1 line led Coaldale police to a Tamaqua man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Officers were sent to three different addresses on High Street for hang-up calls on Saturday, Sept. 24. The third time, they met with a man who said he was calling because he was being threatened. Inside the victim's home officers could see Angelo Maldonado, 26, of East Union Street in Tamaqua. The officer was aware of a warrant for Maldonado's arrest and took him into custody.Before transporting him to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville, the officer searched Maldonado and found five hypodermic syringes, including one filled with suspected heroin; two pills, one each Diazepam and Tramadol; and a blue packet containing suspected heroin.He was transported to the county prison and faces additional charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a misbranded controlled substance.
