Fire Police conducting campaign

Members and officers of the Tamaqua Fire Police organization are conducting the annual fundraising campaign. Donation requests have been mailed to local businesses and residents. In 2015, fire police responded to a total of 108 calls, equaling 727 volunteer man hours. Those hours were broken down to 31 calls for community service events, such as parades, funerals, football games, 5K runs, car cruises, fire prevention events and block parties; five calls for traffic detours for weather events, truck breakdowns and power outages; and 72 calls to assist firefighters as they responded to fires, false alarms, helicopter landings, oil spills and more.
