Man charged with rape of woman, indecent assault of girl, 13

A Palmerton man accused of rape of a woman and indecent assault of a 13-year-old girl is set to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge William Kissner of Palmerton at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

Lucio Alvarado-Torres, 35, of Palmerton, faces charges on two counts of rape, sexual assault, three counts of indecent assault, simple assault, and harassment.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Kevin Buck of the Palmerton Police Department: At around 2 p.m. Sept. 15, a woman reported to police that she had been sexually assaulted in the summer.The victim said she had gone to her friend’s home, and that she arrived at the apartment where several people were present. Later in the evening, “Alex Alvarado” had arrived home from work with several of his co-workers and a neighbor, and everyone who was there began drinking and partying.The victim said she had spoken briefly with “Alex” and “Alex” had rested a bottle of wine on his forearm and told her that she should try this. The victim said she would try it, but only wanted a small amount.The victim said she laid down on the couch and went to sleep, only to be awakened by “Alex,” who attacked her. She told police she began kicking at him and screaming, at which time “Alex” had placed his hand over her mouth and told her to “shut up or you will wake my wife up.”The victim said that “Alex” later returned and aggressively grabbed her arm and began dragging her down the hall.As a result of the attack, the victim wound up with a bruise on the right side of her lip from the defendant repeatedly trying to kiss her and a bruise on the right side of her neck caused by “Alex.”The victim said that on the same date of the attack she began receiving text messages from “Alex,” saying he was sorry he was “mean to her” and asking “why you mad.” He also showed up at her apartment.In the other case, Alvarado-Torres faces charges of corruption of minors, three counts of indecent assault, and two counts of criminal attempt.According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Buck:On Sept. 15, Buck was met at the police department by the victim, a 13-year-old girl, who had come forward to her parents about a man known to her as “Alex” having inappropriate contact with her. The victim said that on March 11, a friend asked her to sleep over and she was given permission by her mother, as they knew the family. The victim said that she was awakened when she heard the defendant arrive at the apartment along with several of his friends and they began drinking. The victim said that early the next morning, shewas awakened to the feeling of her sweatshirt being removed followed by her T-shirt.Following the interview with the victim, an appointment was scheduled with the Children’s Advocacy Center on Sept. 16.Through the investigation, police discovered that Alex Alvarado’s real name is Lucio Alexander Alvarado Torres. He is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 straight bail for each of the two incidents.
